Welcomes Students and Parents to Poole ES

Poole Elementary School welcomed new and returning Pathfinder families during its New Family Orientation and "Popsicles with the Principals" event Aug. 6. The event highlighted the school's commitment to family engagement while helping families prepare for the new school year.

Dr. Lisa McGee, the principal of Poole ES, together with the assistant principal greeted families and introduced staff members who will support students throughout the year. Families received information about school operations, the DoDEA Blueprint for Continuous Improvement, academic goals, upcoming events and opportunities to become active partners in their children's education.

To help create a welcoming atmosphere, families were greeted with baskets of Goldfish crackers and a sign reading, "School is O-Fish-Ally Here!" Students also participated in activities designed to keep them engaged while parents attended presentations and learned more about school programs and expectations.

Families had the opportunity to tour Poole Elementary's 21st-century learning environment, including its interconnected learning neighborhoods, classrooms, media center, art and music rooms, gymnasium, cafeteria and collaborative learning spaces. The tour allowed families to become familiar with the school's open-concept design, which supports creativity, communication, flexibility and student-centered learning.

During the orientation, school leaders highlighted the Pathfinder motto, "Our Path Leads to Success," and discussed the school's commitment to helping students persevere, achieve and thrive. Families also learned about resources available to support student success, including counseling services, technology programs, school communications and Parent Teacher Association volunteer opportunities.

The event concluded with "Popsicles with the Principals," providing families with an opportunity to meet school leaders, staff members and fellow Pathfinders in an informal setting. The gathering encouraged conversations and relationship-building among members of the school community.

The orientation reflected Poole Elementary's commitment to building strong partnerships with families. By providing families with information, resources and opportunities to connect, the school helped ensure students and families begin the school year feeling welcomed, informed and prepared for success.
